Competitive Teams U11-14

About this program

Eugene Metro FC seeks to provide an organized, meaningful, and exciting soccer experience for each of our premier academy age players and teams.

EMFC places a high premium on providing our youngest players with all the fundamentals in each of the soccer pillars (Physical, Technical, Tactical and Psycho-social) We want to develop confident and proactive players who enjoy a passion for the game. In addition, we believe in the core values of commitment, community and confidence.

Our teams participate in statewide multi level Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) leagues in which they are placed based on performance. EMFC believes that appropriate competitions provide excellent player development opportunities.

Player Selection

There will be an annual tryout in May. Players will be selected in their birth year. The tryout is an initial selection process that coaches over the course of the season continue to ensure that players are placed in the appropriate environment for their development. In the Competitive Program we will select appropriate roster sizes. In U11 and U12, our teams will play 9v9 and at U13 we will move into 11v11.

Program Calendar

In the summer, we will train 2 times a week in two 5 week cycles to allow for appropriate breaks in the summer. Training sessions will be 90 minutes long at U11, and then move to 105 minutes at U12. We will plan for 1-2 summer tournaments in Oregon.

During the fall, we will continue to train two times per week. The fall season league play will finish at the end of October. Our competitive teams will then compete in the Oregon Presidents Cup or Oregon Founders Cup based on competitive level until mid November. The Competitive teams will then take a break over the winter unless players sign up for an optional winter indoor futsal program. In mid February, we resume outdoor practices, and play a OYSA spring season that typically ends in early May. We will continue to train twice a week.

Program Objectives

The Competitive Teams train 2 times a week throughout the year. The coaching staff follows a progressive curriculum to provide learning opportunities and challenges for all players on out Competitive teams. The Competitive program prepares players for a high competitive level of play and is a pathway to our Premier teams. It has a larger level of commitment to train and requires a full year commitment. Travel commitment is for 1-2 summer tournaments in Oregon, League play in the Fall with about 5-6 away games in the Portland area, and 4-6 away games in the Portland area in the spring.
