Rangers News

Rangers 2 Man U 2 The first half of this game the Rangers played soft. Many times as a 50-50 ball came in the Ranger backed off, allowed the opponent to control the ball and then turn around. This allowed the United midfield to play dangerous passes to open forwards. Twice they cashed in as unchallenged forwards teed up the ball and slotted home. The second half the Rangers came out assertive, the average time on ball before challenged for Man U fell from four seconds to zero! The Rangers had been out fouled 22 to 3 the previous meeting. This time only 8 to 5, a positive measure of increased aggression by the Rangers. A result of this taking away of the United game was it made them unable to anticipate and shut down the Ranger’s always sweet passing game. In previous games the Rangers at times had been held to 1 shot for the whole match while relying on Wade to make up to 20 saves. This time the Rangers had 8 shots against only five save opportunities for Wade. The Rangers won a couple of corners, Alex headed into the danger zone on the first and Cameron cashed in. The now excited Rangers pressed again, and on another corner Yanci’s cross appeared goal bound. A United played stopped it with his hands, but Kody buried the loose ball. The fact that the Rangers outside fullback was at the post to slam the ball in was a welcome sign of increased aggression. The Forest Grove team then made a full effort to win, and had several corners in a row. They were so well defended that they were fought off without a real goal scoring opportunity. The purpose of the club ball is to improve our boys as players and as a team. It has happened.
