Impact Team News
Oregon Premier Cup . . .
It was a wet & mucky weekend for the most part. Our “Cleanest” game was Saturday @ 11:00 AM at Portland State University. On their turf field, weathering intermittent bouts of rain & wind IMPACT played ESUFC AC Milan. Coach Joe Beeler got the girls focused in the second half and while IMPACT had been down 2 to 0 they tightened up on defense, allowing only one more goal. IMPACT also went into what might be called a scoring frenzy and scored four goals. Final Score: ESUFC AC Milan 3 / EMFC Impact 4.
The second game of the day, at 3:30 PM on Saturday had IMPACT playing the THUSC Mercury in a “hog wallow”. Coaches Joe Beeler & Coach Jurgen were on hand. Goalie, Nora Goodrie, got the worst of it as the goalie areas were extremely worn and ankle deep in muck. It was a tough game against a tenacious opponent. Final Score: THUSC Mercury 4 / EMFC Impact 0.
Sunday morning’s game at 8:00 AM was played on a field that was wet but not bad as far as field condition. Coach Bear Goodman & Coach Jurgen had the girls warmed up & ready. We played Bridlemile Fuego to what might have been a nil nil tie had it not been for Laura Branchaud, who put her foot into a shot from outside the box. A fine ball that went up, up and away, just clearing the fingertips of what could be described as a tall goalie. AWESOME SCORE!! Final Score: EMFC Impact 1 / Bridlemile Fuego 0
Sunday’s second game at 12:30 PM was on a wet & soggy field that was not a bad as the “hog wallow” but still providing some slippery & mucky conditions. Of course IMPACT was meeting with nemesis LOSC Defeeters. IMPACT was warmed up by Coach Bear. Coach Jurgen showed up a bit after the start from another game he coached across town. Anyway, the tougher, faster, bigger team got the job done. I give kudos to the IMPACT defense, which held the Defeeters to 4. It could have been worse! Final Score: EMFC Impact 0 / LOSC Defeeters 4.
For the weekend IMPACT ended up 2 wins / 2 losses. At the time of this writing the standings & schedules posted on the THUSC web site for next weekend had not been completed. I don’t know if IMPACT will have a place next weekend or not.
INDOOR SOCCER & KICK CITY . . .
The IMPACT contingent of girls playing indoor had a successful start to their season. They played, last Tuesday @ 4:00 PM, the “Willamette Maroon”. Their coaching & skills training showed a big disparity between the teams. IMPACT dominated throughout the game. The girls were coached by Suzi Wilson and they were having a great time. Final Score; EMFC Impact 6+ / Willamette Maroon 1.
The next indoor game is Tuesday 11/11 at 4:45 PM. IMPACT will play the “Mud Dogs”.
GO IMPACT!!
