Background
Dave Peterson (Coach Pete) has been playing/coaching soccer in Eugene for over 30 years. He is married to Marian Blankenship (a dancer) and has two sons - Nik (a soccer player) and Nat (a saxophone player).
Coach Pete was an All-State player for South Eugene High School in 1981 and captained Lane Community College to a league championship as an All-Conference player in 1984.
He coached boys soccer at South Eugene High School for three seasons and is the current head boys coach at Churchill High School where they won a state championship in 2008.
Coach Pete is also the head coach with the University of Oregon Womens Club Soccer team, who were runners up at the 2009 National Club Soccer Championships.
In 2010, he assisted Jurgen Ruckaberle in coaching Oregon's U12 boys ODP western regional team and won the state inter-regional tournament.
At EMFC, Coach Pete has coached boys at U11, U12, U14, U15 and U16. He accepted his first EMFC girls team with the U13 Roma in 2010.
Coach Pete is a long-time proponent of strengths-based coaching, the Coerver Soccer Method, and is a lifelong devotee to the "beautiful game" of soccer. He still plays competitively.
